Plessy v. Ferguson

            

            In the case of Plessy v. Ferguson (1896), the Supreme Court upheld the quality of being in line with the political constitution of racial segregation under the doctrine of, "separate but not equal". As a supporter of Ferguson, It is important that I understand the context of this ruling in the legal reasoning that was the courts decision. The case came from an incident in Louisiana were Homer Plessy a man of mixed race was arrested for sitting in a white only railroad car. He also challenged a state law that mandated segregation. He argued that it violated the equal protection clause of the 14th amendment however, the Supreme Court in a 7-1 decision ruled against Plessy showing the legitimacy of state sponsor segregation.
